Boulder Fire in Colorado: Evacuations and some destruction
A fire that has broken out near Boulder in Colorado has spread through the foothills and destroyed some buildings. Evacuations have been taken place but as yet fortunately, there are no reports of anybody being injured.
The case of the wildfire that started in the Four Mile Canyon is not yet known but roads in the surrounding area have been closed and there is heavy smoke apparent, according to an Associated Press report by Dan Elliott. So far the amount of structures that have suffered damage has not been assessed and there are many buildings in the area that are isolated or are in old mining communities.
A spokesman for the Boulder County Office of Emergency Management, Patrick von Keyserling, said the blaze had destroyed a fire vehicle. In Boulder and Nederland evacuation centers have been established and at the Boulder County Fairgrounds at Longmont a livestock shelter has been set up.
