OSHKOSH — A man faces criminal charges after he shot a gun while threatening suicide Wednesday night.
Lt. John Zimmerman of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department said police were called to a Town of Algoma home just after 11 p.m. when the man was reported to be threatening suicide and was armed with a rifle.
He said the man discharged the weapon into the ground, but no one was injured.
The man was eventually taken into custody, transported to a hospital and placed on an emergency 72-hour detention.
Zimmerman said the man will face criminal charges of reckless use of a weapon.
